Thanks to the new Italian triple jump record broken by Fabrizio Donato in the mondotorino09Italian Championships, the Mondotrack SX athletics track surface has also confirmed its performance characteristics in the indoor event held at the Pala Oval in Turin.
A test which has been a complete success, showing that the Olympic track produced by Mondo was absolutely top of the range, the perfect launchpad for the European Championships, which lie just around the corner.

In both Beijing and Turin, indoors or outdoors, for the Olympics or the European Championships, the prefab rubber Mondotrack SX surface has shown that it can adapt to any location or competition, while remaining fast, efficient and safe.

Mondotrack is a light yet highly technological surface for athletics, the result of research and development by MONDO technicians supported by Professor Mauro Testa, a lecturer at Pavia University.

A thorough analysis of biomechanics of the foot during frontal and lateral running led to the need for a track surface that would support and facilitate the movement of the foot, increasing reactivity and reducing rolling time (the time it takes for the foot to roll between the fifth metatarsus and the first metatarsus – the external and internal parts of the sole). A new type of surface and a different type of honeycomb structure (now hexagonal) improves the athletes’ grip and gives the track great elasticity, which ensures physical safety and generates better performances.

The removable indoor track laid in Turin is surfaced with red, light blue and blue Mondotrack. It will have six lanes and an internal parterre for sprint and jumping events, covering a surface of approximately 4,000 sq m. The athletes also have access to a warm up area of about 1,100 sq m and a special shotputting zone.

Once again MONDO is delighted to be part of a high level sporting event, to share its values and to make its expertise and technology available.

About the MONDO Group
The MONDO Group is an international concern that employs over 1500 staff at 11 production plants. Its products are sold in more than 196 countries. Known mainly for the manufacture of sports flooring, especially for athletics tracks and synthetic grass fields, Mondo has been selected as Official Supplier of the Olympic Games nine consecutive times, from Montreal in 1976 to Beijing in 2008. Other prestigious venues we could mention include the Reebok World Headquarters in the United States, the Saitama Super Arena in Japan and in terms of artificial grass surfaces, the Juventus Training Center in Vinovo, the AS Roma Fulvio Bernardini Sports Centre in Trigoria, the Finnair Stadium in Helsinki and the Centro Tecnico Federale in Coverciano.

Mondo also specialises in the production of top quality commercial and industrial floorings, particularly suitable for transport systems, airports, hospitals, universities, schools and shopping centres: every day passengers on the Pendolino, the Cisalpino and Minuetto trains, as well as underground travellers in New York, London, Rome and Turin, patients in hospital at Valdichiana Est, the future hospital in Mestre, and visitors to the Vatican Library, all walk on MONDO floorings. The company is the largest producer of outdoor toys and sports balls (450,000 daily) for professional or leisure use. 2006 saw the launch of MONDOMOTORS, a brand which has quickly become one of the top names in diecast scale-model reproductions of cars and motor vehicles. Mondo also designs and produces prestigious motor yachts at the shipyards of the MondoMarine division.
