What is Sensorize?

nuova-immagine-7

Sensorize is a young and dynamic company that provides unique and revolutionary products for monitoring and assessing physical activity. Sensorize is specialized in the development and production of miniaturized and intelligent electronic products specifically designed to be used without interfering with movement. Sensorize products bring together 3D motion sensing technology (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems), on board intelligence (central processing units and data storage cards), and user-friendly software (comprehensive database, advanced mathematical algorithms). They are characterized by being small & light, totally wireless & wearable and very easy to use.

Who is Sensorize?
Sensorize founding members possess strong academic background and multi-year entrepreneur experience. Their heterogeneous and complementary experience in fields such as human movement analysis & sports performance assessment, software design & development, and miniaturized electronic devices design & production guarantee premium quality of all products offered. Furthermore, all Sensorize products are based on first class scientific research and are exhaustively tested and validated thanks to the collaboration with the Locomotor Bioengineering Apparatus Laboratory (LABLAB, www.lablab.eu) of the University of Rome “Foro Italico” (www.iusm.it).

Where does Sensorize come from and where is it at?
The Sensorize business idea sprung from researchers who worked at LABLAB where cutting edge scientific research in human movement analysis is carried out. After setting up a competitive team, this idea received a one year financial support from the local business development agency (FILAS, www.filas.it) during which the business model was further developed and led to the creation of Sensorize. Currently, Sensorize is among the incubated companies at the Business Innovation Centre in Rome (www.biclazio.it).

What does Sensorize offer?
Sensorize offers athletes cutting edge technology to monitor and analyze

their motor performance. Sensorize specializes in professional monitoring devices specifically designed to meet the needs of all sports professionals: accuracy, reliability, and portability.

In the world of competitive sports, athletes find that they are their own fiercest opponents. When the goal is to optimize performance, it becomes crucial that athletes accurately measure and analyze their own improvement. FreeJump is small, wearable, and wireless, and is specifically designed for strength assessment & monitoring. FreeJump is specifically designed for sports professionals and practitioners for the assessment and monitoring of strength and motor performance directly on the field. FreeJump provides particularly valuable information regarding jumping techniques; thanks to its computing powers, information such as jump height, muscular power, and flight times are available immediately after each jumping exercise on the FreeJump graphical display. It is the only wearable and totally wireless product on the market that directly measures movement-related quantities and takes into account trunk inclination during movement, hence providing highly accurate and reliable information. Thanks to its user-friendly software, you can build comprehensive databases of teams and athletes in order to easily compare performance and track athlete history.

Who should buy FreeJump?
× Coaches and trainers of professional and semi-professional sports who employ technology on and
off the field
× Fitness centres who aim at providing additional quality to customers
× Academic groups involved in human movement and sports research

What advantage does FreeJump offer with respect to its competitors?
× Complete portability: wireless and wearable device hence not interfering with performance and which can be used indoors and outdoors independently from terrain surface or weather conditions; contains a micro-processor and graphic display which gives the possibility of performing several tests even without a PC
× Maximum accuracy: Measurement of three-dimensional physical quantities directly related to movement hence no assumptions that compromise calculations
× Very easy to use: user-friendly software for data acquisition and storage and that contains a comprehensive database for performance monitoring and comparison.090514-freejumpbrochurepromooutsideitaliano

SENSORIZE AND TECHNOLOGY

Sensorize products are based on MEMS technology (micro electro-mechanical systems) that allows to integrate various types of motion sensors (mainly accelerometers and gyroscopes) on a small integrated electronic circuit. All products are wireless exploiting Bluetooth technology and contain OLED displays.

Accelerometers
Sensorize employs ultra compact low-power 3D accelerometers in all of its products. An accelerometer is a device for measuring acceleration and gravity induced reaction forces. Single- and multi-axis models are available to detect magnitude and direction of the acceleration as a vector quantity.
Accelerometers can be used to sense inclination, vibration, and shock. They are increasingly present in portable electronic devices.

Gyroscopes
Sensorize employs 3D MEMS gyroscopes with vertically driven vibrating masses with all required electronics integrated onto a single chip with the sensor. A gyroscope is a device for measuring the rate of rotation (angular velocity) about a sensitive axis. The most popular design of gyroscopes is of the vibrating type. Vibrating gyros are based on the transfer of energy between two vibration modes of a structure caused by Coriolis acceleration.

Bluetooth
Sensorize employs Bluetooth modules within all of its products. Bluetooth is a wireless protocol utilizing short-range communications technology facilitating data transmission over short distances from fixed and/or mobile devices, creating wireless personal area networks. Bluetooth uses radio technology. It chops up the data being sent and transmits chunks of it on up to 75 different frequencies.

OLED
Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are based on a light-emitting conductive organic molecules that consumes one-half to one-fifth of the power of liquid-crystal displays (LCDs). Displays using OLEDs present more-vivid colours and allow for clearer videos, thanks to a faster “refresh rate.” As the technology matures and cheapens, it could ultimately replace current computer-monitor and television technologies.
