Technology for self training
The field of technological devices for training assistance in fitness and running is quite rich. There is a wide range of heart-rate monitors, stride sensors, GPS (and more…) studied to communicate trainings stats. In this crowded field Adidas is trying to lead the way with an innovative device studied for a complete training support: we are talking about micoach.
Micoach consists in a small network of sensors (the actual version includes an heart-rate sensor and a stride sensor) sending data to a small management node which elaborates the incoming signal and communicates the user the training parameters. All this system is wearable end is slightly perceived during the training. Micoach is not just a device, but it is a complete series of tools for the training. In fact adidas allows its customers to register on micoach website for managing the features of the micoach device and for uploading the data recorded during training.
Once uploaded, this data are stored on the personal page of the customer and can be plotted in order to observed what happened during running. Moreover it is available a web service for the definition of a scheduled training program according with the level and the goal of the customer. The resulting program is quite accurate and it consists in a calendar with the Continue reading »

Typically, making a lightweight shoe means sacrificing stability or cushioning. Footwear can quickly get pushed to the point where it starts to break down. Since Nike’s mission is creating innovation for athletes, the obsession has led to a relentless search for new solutions to old problems. The ultimate running footwear should have everything—cushioning, stability and lightweight performance. Lunarlite foam made this goal a reality. It took nearly four years to get all three, but you could say Lunarlite foam was 36 years in the making.
It started back in 1971 with a quote from Geoff Hollister, one of Nike’s earliest employees. He strapped on the first prototypes of Bill Bowerman’s iconic Waffle sole and said, “It was like running on pillows.” Nike designer Kevin Hoffer read the quote in 2004, kicking off his search for cushioning that would recreate that Continue reading »

Today we propose a review about Noene insoles, special plantar that we tested in various terrain conditions and speeds.
The sole prerogative of these insoles is the reduction of negative impacts resulting from the trauma of sportsmen during physical exercise, especially running.
Generally we can describe the phenomenon by recalling that in the past the man ran barefoot, flipped on a natural terrain, such as forests, grasslands, soil, sand, a soft surface, sweet and more suited to the human locomotor sensitive: the spine, muscles and tendons. This type of soil, due to its elasticity and structure, absorbed most of the shock waves, vibrations and shocks created by man.
Nowadays, we are forced to walk (or train) often hard on soils: asphalt, concrete, marble, tiles, etc … These surfaces do not Continue reading »

Anything that gives a reduction in drag is a benefit to an athlete, particularly in an event like the 100m. The
race that crowns the world’s fastest man is a sprint for photo finishes where
hundredths of a second determine the difference between first and fourth. With 7 percent less drag than the Athens version, wearing the new Nike Swift Suit translates to a benefit of about .02 of a second in the 100m.
This year, the Nike Swift program has expanded for Beijing. In addition to the Nike Swift unitard, athletes will have the choice of a whole new system of dress that takes the Nike Swift learnings from other sports, namely basketball, to Track and Field apparel. Nike wanted to create options for athletes since competition isn’t simply about the most lightweight, aerodynamic equipment, but also confidence. It’s the essential Continue reading »
