Aloha! Welcome to the Paddle Round The Pier beach festival 2009!outrigger_canoe_200

Dave Sandals and coHere we go again spreading that aloha spirit!
Every year the Paddle seems to attract a bigger interest and I’m proud to say that in the last two years alone over £41k has been raised for some very worthwhile charities.
The PRTP has always appealed to the surfer/watersports enthusiast but now everyone wants a piece of the pie!
There is so much fabulous- free-fun to be had, along with a huge amount of quality prizes on offer. The watersports industry has realised what a great event this is – enabling us to develop the Paddle Village into an industry trade fair where you can pick up a bargain alongside exhibitions of the latest hardware. By their presence at the Paddle these exhibitors are supporting you so remember –
If your favourite shop/brands not there give’ em a rant and ask them why? – they’re all invited!
This years Paddle is jammed-packed with even more events like old favourites the Paddle Something Unusual and the Scooter challenge to exciting new International events such as the 20 mile Stand Up Paddleboard race.
Thanks to Errant Surf Holidays we now have a “locals only” amateur Pier to Pier Malibu race alongside the Pro-Malibu race – both winning holidays! Keep checking the days’ programs for up-dates as there’s more being continually added.
We currently have a waiting list of over 150 bands who want to play the PRTP so both days will be full to the brim with entertainment!
The kids area – for all those Paddle grommets out there – has grown yet again so bring the whole family down and party all weekend.
Finally it’s down to you to spread the word about what a great party the Paddle weekend is – Get involved, get a Paddle sticker on your car windscreen and then get sponsored – that way we all get to spread the aloha!

Paddle Round The Pier 2009

mime-attachmentIt’s a crazy idea so why do it??? Because you can!
This is where YOU grab your nearest surfboard, windsurf-board, Canoe, Kayak, bodyboard, Kitesurf-board, swim fins, Lilos’ (or check if your neighbours’ front door floats!) – to raise some money for some seriously good causes and have some fun.
At 14.00 on Sunday the 5th of July, everybody will hit the water on-mass to form a carpet of watersports crafts! Those who are nervous have nothing to fear as there will be so many people in the water that the stronger paddlers amongst us will help and encourage those in need of support as we all Paddle Round The Pier.
There will be a group photograph (an old-school 3” long style pic!) on Hove lawns prior to the event so be ready for it by 13.30! [You will be able to purchase copies of this image from the website after the event.]

Children (when accompanied by a suitable adult) are always very welcome but please ensure all minors are equipped with an adequate floatation device and all entrants must please ensure they have appropriate clothing for the conditions.
We may even have the defibrillator standing by and allow the 16 year old famous “Flip Flop” the surfing dog to swim it yet again!
